The Les Cheneaux Islands
A group of 36 small islands along 12 beautiful miles of Lake Huron shoreline on the southeastern tip of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The Les Cheneaux Islands Antique Boat Show & Festival of the Arts has been held in Hessel, MI each August since 1976. It is the world's largest antique wooden boat show.
Whiskey Plank is proud to introduce "Traveler" as our newest vessel. We're also dedicated to educating as many people as possible about the world of boating. Boating, especially on a classic wooden boat like "Traveler", is much more than just riding the waves. It's an opportunity to learn an entirely new language and craft!
About Captain Ritchie
Captain Chris Ritchie has had a passion for wooden boats and a love for the Great Lakes since the age of six. Floating on the water in a wooden boat is his happy place! Whether on the family's 22 ft runabout growing up or a plywood "Sea-Flea” on the inland seas, Chris truly enjoys Michigan waterways. Chris is a licensed captain who takes your safety and enjoyment of the beauty and sites of The Les Cheneaux Islands seriously! It is his pleasure to teach you about its rich history while riding in his wooden boat “Traveler.” Can you imagine a better way to experience Lake Huron water than in a classic 1965 25 ft Lyman Lapstrake wooden boat?
Come enjoy a ride with Captain Ritchie!
